The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, issued the following statement: What happened in the town of Qalaia on our southern border today is completely unacceptable, as members of Hezbollah infiltrated the town, causing Israeli raids on it that led to devastation and destruction and the martyrdom of the parish priest, Father Pierre Al-Rahi. The people of Qalaia, as well as the people of other towns and villages in the south, do not want their towns to be destroyed and their children to be martyred in order to correct the balance of power between America and Iran. The people of these villages have asked several times, and through a number of authorities, from the Lebanese army not to allow illegal armed elements to enter these villages, especially after the recent Cabinet decision on March 2, 2026, but until this moment the army has not done what it was required to do, and the greatest evidence of that is what happened today in Qalaia. The Lebanese Army is called upon to preserve the Lebanese towns and villages that want to preserve themselves, and whose people do not wish to be drawn into a senseless war in which neither Lebanon nor the Lebanese have any interest. I address His Excellency the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, to ask the army to take the necessary measures to protect citizens who consider themselves to be under the protection of a state that protects them.
